We are proud to offer the Odachi (sometimes - incorrectly - referred to as a "nodachi" or "no-dachi"), a full-tang, hand-made work of art! The Odachi features a traditional hand-braided leather-wrapped grip, a blackened steel tsuba and pommel, and beautiful red tassels . The sharp, functional high-carbon steel blade is mounted with a traditional copper habaki. The scabbard on this odachi is hand-made from wood and wrapped in brown leather.
The Odachi's high-carbon steel blade is hand-pounded and forged over hot coals, using many of the original techniques passed down through the generations of ancient swordsmiths. Each tsuba and kashira is individually hand-cast in blackened steel for functionality and ease of upkeep. A traditional solid copper habaki is hand fitted to each 40" long, 1-3/8" wide, fully-functional blade, which attests to its authenticity. The overall length of the odachi is an incredible 67" - almost six feet! The diameter of the tsuba is 4". The workmanship put into each sword attests to each sword being an authentically functional original work of art!
