Shields & Bucklers

Shields are a form of active defense (contrasted with armor's passivity) that have been important to many warrior cultures, such as the Vikings, mounted European Knights, and the Norman conquerors. Shields have even been used as recently as the British Empire's domination of Africa, where the British troops faced off against Zulu warriors bearing short spears and hide-covered shields (which we do not carry, unfortunately).

Our selection of shields are hand-crafted of high-quality materials such as hardwoods and high-carbon steel and can be used for re-enactment, stage combat, or just as high-quality decorations for your home or office.

Plain Buckler A plain steel version of our Leather-Covered Buckler.	Fluted Buckler A version of our Steel Buckler with deep flutes for extra protection!
Plated Buckler A more heavily-built version of our Steel Buckler, with riveted plates for extra protection and durability.	Leather Covered Buckler The same as our Plain Buckler, but covered in leather.
Leather-covered Buckler with Scallop-edged Boss This version of our Leather-Covered Buckler has a slightly more decorative tone, thanks to its scallop-edged central boss.	Domed Buckler A small, round steel shield with a recess for the bearer's hand. This recess, pushed out the front of the shield, creates a curved protective surface that encourages blows to glance off the shield.
Renaissance Steel Shield A moderately-sized round steel shield of the sort carried by archers, men-at-arms, and other warriors who would prefer the protection offered by a shield but not the weight of a heavy heater or kite shield.	Archer's Buckler A small steel shield designed to give the lightly-armored archer a degree of protection in the event that his position was overrun by infantry.
16" Buckler A moderately-sized round steel shield for the warrior who prizes speed and agility over pure defense, this shield provides a deflective surface without sacrificing the bearer's ability to move quickly.	Hand-Cup Buckler This tiny shield is quite possibly the quickest shield we've ever offered; it covers the bearer's off hand, providing a bit of blocking ability without compromising his ability to dodge and move quickly.
