Leather Baldrics and Backhangers

The baldric is a classic accessory for carrying a sword or other weapon, known to have been used by Roman soldiers to carry their gladii. The style survived due to the ease of manufacture and the comfort affordded by the baldric; when worn in one, a sword's weight is distributed across the chest and back and the sword's grip is conveniently located on the hip opposite the primary hand. Later in history, during the Renaissance and the Golden Age of Piracy, the baldric became a necessary piece of one's garments to carry his rapier, cutlass, or hanger. Many nations' armies and navies even issued baldrics as part of their uniforms! Today, no pirate, swashbuckler, or warrior's garb is complete without the baldric!

The backhanger is also an old accessory and is worn to provide ease of wear for a long sword, great sword, or other sizeable blade. When you're not in need of your sword, strap it across your back! (In fact, it's hard to find a fantasy hero who doesn't wear his enchanted blade slung across his back!)

In fact, it's hard to find a fantasy hero who doesn't wear his sword comfortably strapped across his back. Three different styles!	Simple Baldric Our basic baldric design with its adjustable sword frog is a great addition to any costume or garb ensemble that requires a blade. Perfect for the pirate, naval officer, or other seafaring type to carry his cutlass or rapier!
Lowland Backhanger Our hand-crafted leather back hanger is the perfect way to carry your great sword, claymore, or other oversized, two-handed weapon. Adjustable frogs allow for a great variety of swords and other weaponry!	Braided Baldric Adorned with beautifully hand-braided leather strips and a hand-forged twisted-iron buckle, our Braided Baldric is a more ornate way to carry your sword than our Simple Baldric. (Even if you are a scurvy, boot-hunting pirate, there's no reason you can't look good!)
Dual-Buckle Baldric This dual-buckle baldric has an attractive split-strap design with two buckles.	Studded Baldric An upgraded version of our Simple Baldric, the Studded Baldric has decorative studs and four adjustable buckles to perfectly fit your sword, rapier, or cutlass.
D-Ring Baldric Similar to the Simple Baldric, but with additional D-rings attached for tying on extra gear, decorations, or other accoutrement.	Midshipman's Baldric A more decorative buckle style than our other baldrics and a narrower profile. Suitable for any ship's officer!
