Sword of Edward, the Black Prince
Sword of Edward, the Black Prince Ref: IW-IP076
This is a late-14th-century hand-and-a-half sword (Oakeshott Type XVa). The original sword, which rests in a private collection in England, is thought to possibly be the sword of Edward, the Black Prince. The Black Prince, son of Edward III and father of Richard II, was known as a great warrior. The sword was removed from its resting place during the English Civil War; Cromwell has been blamed for its disappearance. Our design features a distal-taper high-carbon steel blade with strong tang that is peened over-top of the pommel. The handle is hardwood wrapped in leather. The crossguard and pommel are solid steel, making this a very quick and balanced sword.

Blade length - 33 1/4"

Overall - 43 1/4"

Weight - 3 lbs., 12oz.
